Kansas Mom's Near-Fatal Spider Bite Sparks Health Battle

A family outing to Cheney Lake became a harrowing medical crisis for Britagne Miller, a Kansas mother. What started as a suspected spider bite on May 28 escalated rapidly due to her pre-existing health conditions, including blood clotting disorders and a compromised liver. After developing staph and gram-negative infections and experiencing severe pain, doctors initially feared she had only weeks to live due to end-stage liver failure.

Following extensive hospitalization and surgeries to address blood clots and the bite wound, Miller was released on July 11. She is now focusing on recovery at home and pursuing eligibility for a liver transplant. The intense medical emergency has placed a significant financial burden on her family, prompting them to start a GoFundMe campaign to assist with hospital bills and recovery expenses.
