Warning: Illegal Gummies Contain Potent Drug
17 Aug
Summary
- Illegal cannabis gummies sold online contain dangerously high spice concentrations.
- The fake edibles mimic popular sweet brands in colourful, deceptive packaging.
- Dosage varies wildly, posing significant health risks to unknowing consumers.

Experts have identified extremely high levels of the synthetic drug spice within illegal cannabis gummies being sold online. These counterfeit edibles are designed to resemble well-known sweet brands, complete with colourful packaging, but contain THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis.
Wiltshire Police have seized a number of these drug-laced gummies, and scientists at the University of Bath are conducting tests. Professor Chris Pudney of the university expressed concern over the fluctuating concentrations of spice, noting that the dosage could differ significantly even between gummies in the same pack.
Consumers unknowingly ingest these gummies are at risk of consuming far more spice than intended. Professor Pudney described this as a "remarkably risky" situation, where individuals are essentially gambling with their health due to the unpredictable potency of the illegal products.
