Specialist Doctors Coming to Local Clinics
10 Feb
Summary
- Polyclinics with specialist doctors to open at 14 UPHCs.
- Eight specialists will offer services twice weekly starting March 2026.
- UPHCs will be expanded to accommodate new specialist facilities.

The district health administration is set to revolutionize healthcare by introducing specialist doctor facilities at 14 urban primary health centers (UPHCs) in the state capital. This ambitious project is slated to commence in March 2026.
Eight specialist doctors, encompassing obstetricians, paediatricians, and psychiatrists, will be available at these polyclinics twice a week. The initiative focuses on delivering specialized treatment at the UPHC level, thereby reducing the need for patients to travel to larger government hospitals.
Several UPHCs, including those in Jankipuram, Chitwapur, and IIM Road, have been identified for upgrades to accommodate these specialists. The expansion will increase the area of each UPHC from 1,400 to 2,000 square feet to facilitate the polyclinic services.
