Cancer Battle Ends Motherhood Dream
13 Dec
Summary
- After two miscarriages, Sophie faced cancer.
- IVF with donor egg was unsuccessful.
- Sophie now accepts she will never be a mother.

Sophie Forbes-Perry's dream of becoming a mother was profoundly impacted by a rare cancer diagnosis, Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia, discovered during a molar pregnancy. This devastating news followed two previous miscarriages.
After undergoing chemotherapy and surgery, Sophie was declared cancer-free. However, a subsequent IVF round, which required using a donor egg due to her treatment, proved unsuccessful. The couple experienced a chemical pregnancy, and shortly after, Sophie turned 43, making them ineligible for further NHS funding.
Having dedicated six years to trying for a child, Sophie and her husband have now decided to stop their pursuit and focus on living their lives. Sophie has embraced her role as a charity founder and finds fulfillment in travel, while advocating for cancer research.
