Mum Left Paralyzed After Using Black Market Slimming Jabs

A 33-year-old mother has recounted a harrowing experience of temporary paralysis and severe organ infections allegedly linked to using black market slimming injections. The carer, Jade Benton, initially purchased the jabs in March for a 'post-breakup glow-up' and experienced weight loss. She resumed using the same seller's product in June, which led to debilitating stomach pains and nausea.

Feeling extremely weak, she sought medical advice and was subsequently rushed to the hospital. There, she was diagnosed with infections in her pancreas and kidney. During her overnight stay, Ms. Benton reported two episodes of temporary paralysis, where she lost the ability to move her limbs. She expressed fear and uncertainty about the direct cause but noted such symptoms had never occurred before using these injections.

UK health authorities have repeatedly warned against purchasing weight-loss medications, such as those containing semaglutide, from unofficial sources like social media or unlicensed sellers. These unregulated products carry significant risks, including severe inflammation of the pancreas and potential contamination. The MHRA issued a warning in January regarding the rare but serious risk of acute pancreatitis. Experts emphasize that individuals seeking weight-loss medication should strictly adhere to NHS guidelines or consult healthcare professionals to avoid dangerous side effects.
