25 May
Summary
- Hospital transformed into an Enchanted Forest for teen patients' prom.
- Therapy animals, including a mini horse, added to the magical atmosphere.
- Event aimed to combat patient isolation during significant milestones.

Seattle Children's Hospital recently hosted its inaugural prom night for teen patients, transforming its halls into an Enchanted Forest. This special event provided a magical experience for dozens of young patients, primarily aged 15 to 19, who might otherwise miss significant milestone events due to hospitalization.
The hospital's Child Life specialists, along with community volunteers and donors, orchestrated the prom. The evening featured formal wear, hair and makeup services, food, a DJ, a photo booth, and a light-up dance floor. Adding to the enchantment were therapy animals, including a mini horse named Bass, and the hospital's facility dogs, Scarlett and Nash.
This initiative was designed to address the profound isolation teen patients often face while in the hospital. Seattle Children's hopes to continue this tradition annually, ensuring patients have opportunities to celebrate and create lasting memories.
