Duguay's daughter, Shay Thomas, has been the primary source of updates regarding his health. She recently posted that her father continues to fight the illness and is showing signs of healing.

She described her father as a fighter, emphasizing that they are taking each day as it comes and relying on their faith. Duguay, 69, was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer over a year ago, and the cancer has since metastasized to his liver. He initially fell ill in October 2025 at Palin's home in Alaska.
