11 May
Summary
- Recall expanded for date-sweetened chocolate due to salmonella.
- All recalled products tested negative for salmonella.
- Customers can get refunds by contacting the company.

Spring & Mulberry has expanded its voluntary recall of date-sweetened chocolate bars on May 8, 2026, due to concerns about salmonella contamination. The company's investigation identified a single lot of date ingredient used in production as the probable source. All products included in the expanded recall have tested negative for salmonella, and no confirmed illnesses have been reported.
The recall initially targeted the Mint Leaf Date-Sweetened Chocolate Bar in January 2026, following routine testing. The affected bars, including various flavors like Blood Orange, Coffee, and Pure Dark, were available for sale online and in stores starting in August 2025. Customers possessing the recalled chocolate bars are advised against consumption.
To receive a refund, consumers must contact Spring & Mulberry and provide a photo of the product packaging that displays the batch code. Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause severe infections, particularly in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and dehydration.
