A neighborhood in Sacramento County is suffering from a severe rat infestation emanating from a single residential property. Residents report an overwhelming presence of rodents, with one neighbor estimating over a thousand rats in the vicinity and sighting hundreds at once climbing structures and entering the home.
The infestation has made it impossible for affected residents to enjoy their yards, with reports of destroyed fences and rats digging holes and dying on the property. The rodents are reportedly entering the home through visible holes in the roof.
Sacramento County officials have confirmed an active code enforcement case for overgrown vegetation at the property, which neighbors believe is contributing to the rodent problem. Despite attempts to contact the homeowner, no response has been received regarding the escalating health hazard.
Recent efforts by deputies to conduct a wellness check at the property found no one present. The situation remains ongoing, with residents pleading for county intervention to address the serious health concerns posed by the extensive rat population.
