1 Feb
Summary
- Village rice is low glycemic index, aiding blood sugar control.
- Cabbage aids estradiol reduction and promotes gut health.
- Personalized nutrition is key, not just trending diets.

Celebrity nutritionist Ryan Fernando, known for sculpting Virat Kohli's physique, shared his personalized lunch, highlighting that dietary choices should be tailored to individual genetics and metabolism, not fleeting trends.
Fernando's meal features village rice, a low glycemic index option, alongside sautéed cabbage known for aiding estradiol reduction and promoting gut health through its fiber content. He also includes salmon or other fish for high-quality protein, pulses like dal for fiber and blood sugar regulation, and cucumber, which offers antioxidants and may protect the pancreas.
He explained that his diet is meticulously designed based on his body's blueprint and genetic predispositions, such as a potential risk for autoimmune pancreatitis. Bell peppers are added to red meat for a significant protein boost post-workout.
Fernando emphasizes that lunch is a critical meal influencing energy, focus, hormones, digestion, and blood sugar levels throughout the day. He notes that consuming foods that don't align with one's body can result in fatigue, cravings, bloating, or inflammation later on.
Registered dietitian Deepalakshmi, from Shree Balaji Medical Centre in Chennai, supports this personalized approach, stating that what benefits one person might not suit another. She also advises consuming 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily for muscle maintenance, especially post-workout.
