- People in rural areas urged to donate blood frequently.

In a significant appeal for life-saving resources, former MLA Gunda Lakshmi Devi called upon individuals in rural areas to contribute to blood donation efforts. This initiative aims to bolster the supply for patients and victims of road accidents. The current blood collection in the district falls drastically short of its annual requirement.
The district faces a substantial deficit, needing 32,000 units of blood each year while only managing to collect around 6,000 units. This critical gap was highlighted during the inauguration of a blood donation camp in Srikakulam. The event was organized by local residents and supported by the Indian Red Cross Society.
Indian Red Cross Society chairman P. Jaganmohana Rao emphasized the health benefits of physical labor in rural settings, encouraging frequent blood donations. He noted that individuals engaged in agricultural work are generally healthy. Furthermore, Ms. Lakshmi Devi specifically addressed women, encouraging their participation in blood donation, while acknowledging the prevalence of anemia in some rural women.
