Bath Hospital Maternity Care Earns Top Marks

The maternity department at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUH) has been recognized for its high quality of patient care. The Care Quality Commission's 2025 Maternity Survey revealed that expectant and new mothers at the RUH experienced care where they felt "listened to, respected and supported" throughout their journey.
Director of midwifery, Zita Martinez, highlighted that the team's focus on enhancing postnatal services this year yielded particularly pleasing results. The RUH demonstrated strong performance in the annual survey, surpassing most hospitals in England on 28 critical indicators. Areas of excellence included sufficient time and support during antenatal checkups and effective staff communication and teamwork.
The trust also achieved commendable scores for its provision of mental health support during pregnancy and for respecting decisions regarding infant feeding. While celebrating these successes, Ms. Martinez affirmed the team's commitment to continuous improvement, aiming to ensure every family receives the best possible experience.
