Renville County's annual Walk in the Park event is scheduled for Friday, August 7, at Nester Park in Olivia. This year's theme, 'Let Your Light Shine,' aims to honor cancer survivors and commemorate those lost.
The event will feature speakers Louise Anderson, facilitator of the Fairfax area Stronger Together Cancer Support Empowerment Group, and Dr. Silvia Balbo, a cancer researcher. Anderson, a lifelong Renville County resident and 45-year nursing veteran, will share her personal experiences.
Established three years ago, Stronger Together provides crucial mentorship and resources for newly diagnosed cancer patients within Renville County. Dr. Balbo's participation highlights a significant achievement; she has been accepted into the global Cancer Grand Challenge research initiative, partly due to Renville County's support.
