A remarkable medical feat occurred recently when Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in Coimbatore successfully performed a rare intra-cardiac repair on a one-year-old infant from Nigeria. The infant, weighing 5.9 kilograms, was brought to the hospital seeking evaluation and treatment for a serious condition.
Upon examination by Dr. S. Devaprasath, the child was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, identified as Complete Atrioventricular (AV) Canal Defect. This condition, characterized by multiple holes in the heart and a single common valve, was further complicated by Pulmonary Artery Hypertension.
