Gracie Greenlaw, who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, underwent the rare procedure in 2025 at Children's Hospital Colorado.
Her medical team had anticipated the need for a double transplant due to complications from a previous heart surgery. After spending nearly six months at the hospital, Gracie was placed on the donor waitlist and received a match within a month.
The complex surgery, involving over 100 medical staff, was the first combined heart-liver transplant performed at Children's Hospital Colorado. Specialists worked diligently to ensure the success of the procedure.
Gracie has since returned home to Fort Collins and is actively enjoying childhood activities like roller skating and dodgeball. Her family expressed immense gratitude to the donor family and the medical team for this life-saving gift.
