Medication Mix-Up: Patients Urged to Check Ramipril Batch
28 May
Summary
- One batch of ramipril 2.5mg capsules recalled due to packaging error.
- Blister strips of 10mg tablets were found inside a 2.5mg labelled box.
- Patients who took higher doses should contact a healthcare professional.

Crescent Pharma is recalling a specific batch of ramipril 2.5mg capsules, GR155023, as a precautionary measure. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) stated that this recall is due to a packaging error. A health professional reported finding two blister strips of 10mg tablets inside a sealed box intended for 2.5mg capsules.
This packaging mistake occurred during the production process at the same facility where the capsules were manufactured. Dr. Alison Cave, chief safety officer at the MHRA, urged patients to verify their medication packaging for the affected batch number. If the carton correctly displays 2.5mg capsules, no further action is needed, and patients should continue their prescribed dosage.
Patients who may have inadvertently taken a higher dose of ramipril could experience side effects such as dizziness or changes in kidney function. Vulnerable individuals may face more serious consequences. The MHRA advises anyone concerned to consult a healthcare professional for assessment. Patients are also encouraged to return any remaining medication to their pharmacy or GP and report suspected side effects via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Pharmacies and healthcare providers have been instructed to halt the supply of this batch and return any remaining stock.
