C-Section Deaths Spark Outrage in Rajasthan Government Hospitals

Two women succumbed to fatal complications following caesarean sections performed at the District Women's Hospital in Bundi. The women, admitted on September 15, were later transferred to private hospitals in Kota, where they passed away on the following day. Their infants, delivered via C-section, are reported to be in good health.
In response, the Medical and Health Department has temporarily sealed the operating theatre in Bundi and initiated infection control protocols, including sampling and culture testing. A gynecologist has been relieved of duty, and a three-member inquiry committee is investigating the deaths. This incident follows a disturbing trend of maternal deaths linked to C-sections at government hospitals across Rajasthan. Between May and July-end, the state recorded 19 such fatalities, with previous clusters reported in Kota and Jodhpur, raising serious concerns about the state's maternal healthcare infrastructure.
