31 Jul
Summary
- Government blood centres must now collect 50% of blood units.
- New rules aim to reduce replacement donations and improve availability.
- Special rules apply for camps over 200km from a blood centre.

The Rajasthan government has updated its regulations for voluntary blood donation camps, with a new directive requiring government blood centres to collect 50% of all blood units. Previously, this figure stood at 20%. This policy adjustment, announced via a circular, is intended to improve the overall blood supply across the state and lessen the necessity for replacement blood donations.
Government blood centres will dispatch medical teams to these donation camps to conduct collections, adhering to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. For camps located more than 200 kilometers from a government blood centre, collections will be restricted to single blood bags to maintain quality during transit. Officials have been instructed to strictly enforce these new guidelines, with accountability measures in place for any negligence or blood shortages.
