Dog Food Recall: Listeria Fears Grip Pet Owners
6 Jun
Summary
- Raaw Energy dog food recalled for listeria contamination.
- Products recalled were made between July 2025 and March 2026.
- Listeria can spread from pets to humans and other animals.

Raaw Energy has issued a recall for all dog food products manufactured between July 17, 2025, and December 23, 2025, including a batch from March 31, 2026. This action follows the detection of listeria in multiple samples by state regulators, prompting an expansion of a January 2026 advisory due to subsequent reported animal illnesses.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed that eight samples tested positive for pathogenic bacteria. The affected products are identifiable by their packaging: 2-pound or 5-pound clear plastic tubes sold frozen in cardboard boxes. The company cited an abundance of caution for the recall, as some products from the specified timeframe might be affected.
Raaw Energy will temporarily halt all dog food production until May 21, 2026, to address contamination issues, including thorough cleaning of production areas, drains, and equipment. Listeria monocytogenes can cause a serious and potentially fatal infection in pets, known as listeriosis. Even asymptomatic pets can spread the bacteria to humans and other animals.
Symptoms of listeriosis in pets can include vomiting and diarrhea, while in humans, symptoms range from fever and muscle aches to more severe neurological issues. The recalled products were sold in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Consumers are urged to discard the affected food or contact Raaw Energy for a refund.
