Punjab Boosts Healthcare: 300 Specialists Onboarded

In a significant step to bolster public healthcare, the Punjab Cabinet has sanctioned the empanelment of 300 specialist doctors. These professionals will serve across 12 critical medical disciplines, aiming to enhance the quality and availability of specialized medical services, particularly at the secondary-care level. This initiative is expected to significantly improve healthcare access for residents in smaller towns and rural areas.

The empanelment process will be overseen by civil surgeons, allowing listed specialists to provide a range of services including outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and surgical care. This move directly addresses the issue of vacant specialist posts in districts, ensuring more equitable access to essential medical expertise throughout the state.

Beyond healthcare, the Cabinet also approved a uniform disciplinary and appellate structure for cooperative societies, clarifying lines of authority and appeal processes. Amendments to the Punjab Minor Mineral Rules were also cleared, simplifying mining rights allocation and making services more transparent and efficient for citizens.
