Pune FDA Seizes 3,800 Kg Adulterated Mango Pulp

The Pune unit of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken significant action against mango adulteration, seizing over 3,800 kg of contaminated mango pulp. Raids in the Pune district uncovered serious violations of food safety regulations.
A manufacturing unit in Urse village was found producing mango pulp with unauthorized food colours and substances. Inspectors seized and destroyed 3,282.9 kg of this adulterated product. Further investigations in Khed taluka led to the seizure of an additional 558 kg of mango pulp.
These seizures highlight the health risks associated with chemically ripened mangoes, which can cause various ailments from digestive issues to neurological problems. The FDA is encouraging consumers to be vigilant and report any suspected cases of food adulteration. Operating food businesses without a license carries a penalty of up to Rs 10 lakh under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
