Pullman Regional Hospital has achieved a significant milestone with the Washington State Department of Health's approval of Phase 1 of its multi-year Patient Care Expansion Project. This endorsement permits the use of upgraded facilities, following prior temporary occupancy approval from the city of Pullman. The DOH's Construction Review Services confirmed that essential commissioning reports, HVAC tests, and medical gas verification met state requirements as of June 30th. The initial phase, which commenced last fall, involved constructing a new laboratory, enhancing surgical capacity, and implementing vital infrastructure and safety upgrades throughout the facility, including new emergency power and fire alarm systems. Future phases will further expand operating rooms, add an endoscopy room, and increase mental health patient capacity. The overall project, encompassing these substantial upgrades, is funded through a combination of a taxpayer-approved bond, hospital operations, financing, and philanthropy, and is projected for completion by the end of 2027.
