Wrong Label Sparks Publix Coffee Cake Recall
18 Dec, 2025
Summary
- Maple Walnut Coffee Cakes mislabeled as Raspberry.
- Walnut allergy risk due to undeclared ingredient.
- Recalled cakes distributed across eight states.

The James Skinner LLC has initiated a recall for Publix brand Maple Walnut Coffee Cakes because they were incorrectly labeled. These cakes were packaged in clear plastic containers and inadvertently labeled as Publix Raspberry Coffee Cake. While the raspberry label states "PROCESSED ON EQUIPMENT THAT ALSO PROCESSES ALMONDS, PECANS AND WALNUTS," walnuts are not listed in the actual ingredients of the maple walnut cake, posing a significant health risk to those with walnut allergies.
The recalled cakes, weighing 14 ounces, have a lot code number of 5309 and SKU number 54591, and were manufactured on November 5, 2025. They were distributed to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The issue was discovered by a retail store employee who noticed visible walnuts and the incorrect labeling.
