OB-GYNs Issue New Vaccine Guidance Amid Misinformation
11 Jun
Summary
- Prominent OB-GYN group released its own vaccine schedule for pregnant women.
- Recommendations differ from current U.S. government vaccine guidance.
- The new schedule addresses circulating vaccine misinformation.

The American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG) has issued its own vaccine immunization schedule, diverging from U.S. government recommendations. This decision was prompted by changes in CDC guidance and the increasing prevalence of vaccine misinformation.
Four key immunizations are recommended during pregnancy: the flu vaccine, the COVID-19 shot, and the Tdap vaccine. A new RSV vaccine is advised between 32 and 36 weeks for first-time pregnancies, with an option for an antibody shot for the infant. Other vaccines may be needed based on risk factors.
This independent schedule was created to offer clear, evidence-based guidance and combat misinformation. It has received endorsement from 13 other professional medical societies, including some that have also released schedules differing from the CDC's.
