Dengue Surge in Prayagraj: Cases Reach 88
5 Oct
Summary
- Confirmed dengue infections in Prayagraj have reached 88.
- Hospitals are increasing dengue ward capacity due to rising cases.
- Health officials urge prompt medical attention for dengue symptoms.
Dengue cases are rapidly increasing in Prayagraj, with 88 confirmed infections reported. After a quiet September, cases have surged in early October, prompting health officials and hospitals to escalate their preparedness measures. This uptick is evidenced by a rise in dengue ward admissions and increased demand for platelets at blood centers.
Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital admitted four patients with severe dengue symptoms on Sunday, sending their samples for testing. The hospital currently has six confirmed dengue patients and has designated a 30-bed ward for such cases. Other hospitals, including TB Sapru (Beli) Hospital and Motilal Nehru Divisional Hospital (Colvin Hospital), have also reserved beds for dengue patients, with community health centers allocating space as well.
Chief Medical Officer AK Tiwari stressed the importance of not ignoring dengue symptoms like fever and rashes, urging prompt medical attention. Beli Hospital has stocked essential medicines and installed mosquito nets in its dengue ward. Most admitted patients are from urban areas, and while platelet transfusions are reserved for critical cases, the condition of currently admitted patients is improving.
