Hyderabad is set to host the third international Pink Power Run, a significant community fitness initiative aimed at raising breast cancer awareness. The event, scheduled for September 27 at People's Plaza, expects to draw over 20,000 participants. It features a substantial ₹75 lakh prize pool, with awards for more than 100 winners across various race categories, including an AIMS-certified half marathon.
This year's run introduces the "Miles for Mammograms" program, a collaboration with AIG Hospitals. Through this initiative, the cumulative distance covered by all participants will translate into medical diagnostic support. Specifically, for every 100 kilometers collectively achieved, the Sudha Reddy Foundation will sponsor one free breast cancer screening and mammogram for underprivileged patients.
Founder Sudha Reddy highlighted the event's role in promoting preventive healthcare and early detection. Dr. Pragnya Chigurupati, a breast oncosurgeon, underscored the urgency of such initiatives, noting Telangana's highest breast cancer incidence rate in India and the critical need for widespread screening, particularly in rural areas.
