Construction on the proposed Critical Care Block at PGIMER Chandigarh is poised to begin, having secured the necessary environmental clearance. This crucial project, delayed for months, will bolster the institute's readiness for future infectious disease outbreaks.
The 150-bed Critical Care Block, a new addition not in the original master plan, was fast-tracked under the PM-ABHIM scheme due to the urgent need highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is being constructed on a vacant plot on the PGI campus.
This multispeciality center will feature intensive care units, isolation wards, and advanced facilities for neonatal care. It is designed to treat critically ill and infectious disease patients comprehensively, enhancing emergency response capacity.
