Peppermint Oil: A Natural Blood Pressure Game Changer?
5 Sep
Summary
- Peppermint oil shows positive clinical implications for hypertension.
- Participants with pre-hypertension or stage one hypertension were studied.
- Untreated high blood pressure poses significant health risks.

Research from the University of Lancashire indicates that peppermint oil could have significant clinical implications for managing arterial hypertension. Professor Jonnie Sinclair reported very positive findings, highlighting the importance of addressing this common risk factor for cardiometabolic disease and global mortality.
The study involved participants diagnosed with either pre-hypertension or stage one hypertension. Half of the group consumed 50 microliters of pure peppermint oil mixed in water twice daily, while the control group received a placebo.
High blood pressure, if left untreated, can lead to severe health consequences including heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease, and vascular dementia. It is estimated that millions of adults in the UK live with undiagnosed high blood pressure.
