Summary

- Training focused on recognizing cardiac arrest and providing aid.
- The program emphasized the critical role of immediate response.
An awareness program aimed at equipping ordinary citizens with life-saving skills was recently organized in Panchkula. This initiative, known as Project BLS, was a joint effort by the Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF) and the department of anaesthesia and intensive care at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The training sessions focused on practical aspects of emergency response. Participants learned how to recognize cardiac arrest, perform chest compressions, and utilize an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). They also received instruction on first aid for major trauma cases.
A significant part of the program involved hands-on practice. Conducted by the PGIMER team in association with Red Cross Haryana, this session allowed attendees to hone their skills in chest compressions and emergency response techniques. The initiative highlighted CCF's dedication to fostering safer communities.
The overarching message of Project BLS was clear: the first ten minutes of an emergency are critical, and every trained citizen has the potential to be a lifesaver. This program reinforces the belief in building more resilient and empowered communities.
