Staph Alert: Cheese Recalled in Outaouais
4 Aug
Summary
- Outaouais cheese recalled due to likely staph contamination.
- Recall affects Grondines brand cheese sold July 9-16.
- No illnesses linked to the recalled cheese as of August 3.

In the Outaouais region, a recall has been issued for Grondines-brand cheese due to the likely presence of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) announced the recall on Monday, covering cheese purchased between July 9 and July 16, 2026. This affected product was sold refrigerated at two locations of La trappe à fromage de l'Outaouais.
MAPAQ advises consumers not to consume the cheese, even if it shows no signs of spoilage. Symptoms of staph food poisoning, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, can appear rapidly. As of August 3, 2026, no illnesses were reported. This is the latest in a series of recalls for Grondines cheese in Quebec.
