Summary

  • Manisha Badge, 41, donated heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and corneas.
  • This marked Nagpur's 18th deceased organ donation of 2026.
  • The donor's family bravely consented after she was declared brain-stem dead.

ZTCC Nagpur facilitated its 18th deceased organ donation of 2026 recently, bringing the center's total to 203 donations since 2013. The donor, 41-year-old Manisha Sagar Badge from Jalgaon, was declared brain-stem dead at a private hospital in Amravati following a road accident on October 17.

Her grieving family, including her husband Sagar Badge and father Vyankat Khobragade, bravely consented to donate her heart, lungs, liver, both kidneys, and corneas. Doctors and ZTCC coordinators provided compassionate counsel during this difficult time.

Recipients for the donated organs included a 62-year-old man in Amravati who received a kidney, and a 54-year-old man in Wardha who received the second kidney. A 66-year-old man in Nagpur received the liver, while the corneas went to Harina Eye Bank in Amravati. Unfortunately, no suitable recipients were found for the heart and lungs.

Green corridors were established from the Amravati hospital to facilitate the swift and safe transport of the organs. ZTCC extended its gratitude to the traffic police in Amravati and Nagpur for their crucial assistance in this life-saving endeavor.
