A 40-year-old migrant worker from Bihar has become a beacon of hope, enabling four patients to receive life-saving organ transplants. Munna Das, who had been working in Rohtak, suffered critical injuries in a motorcycle accident on September 12. He was admitted to PGIMS Rohtak and sadly declared brain dead on September 17 due to severe head trauma.
His family, present in Rohtak for work, made the compassionate decision to donate his organs. This selfless act was coordinated through national and state transplant organizations. One kidney was retained by PGIMS Rohtak, while the other was transported to Army Hospital in Chandimandir.
The liver and heart were allocated to hospitals in Delhi, necessitating swift transport. A 95km inter-state green corridor was successfully operationalized between Rohtak and Delhi, allowing the ambulance carrying the heart to travel in just 63 minutes. A helicopter from Chandimandir assisted in airlifting one organ, highlighting the critical coordination involved.
