Olympic champion Sally Gunnell has lent her support to Run 31, an annual January challenge benefiting Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS). Gunnell visited the KSS airbase in Redhill, urging residents of the South East to join the event by walking or running 31 miles.
She highlighted the dual benefits of the challenge, stating it's a "fantastic way to start the year" for both physical fitness and mental wellbeing, emphasizing that every mile contributes to KSS's critical services. The charity relies on public support to continue delivering emergency aid.
KSS reported approximately 240 missions in December 2024 alone, with daily operations costing £57,000. The service annually responds to over 3,100 incidents across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex, underscoring the significant need for continued community involvement and fundraising efforts.
