The program will initially cater to specialties such as urology, gynecology, and pediatric surgery, aiming to enhance surgical accuracy and accelerate patient recovery times. This advancement is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for advanced procedures.
In parallel, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has also operationalized a new liver transplant unit. This development signifies a major step in strengthening tertiary healthcare services in eastern India. The unit is equipped with a state-of-the-art operation theatre and an advanced ICU, ensuring comprehensive care for patients with end-stage liver disease. Two successful liver transplants have already been performed, with patients recovering well, demonstrating the unit's immediate impact.
