Ocoee Gym Water Tests Negative for Legionella

Recent tests conducted by the Florida Department of Health on Crunch Fitness in Ocoee have revealed no presence of the bacteria responsible for Legionnaires' disease. The gym, located on East Silver Star Road, had twenty samples taken from its spa system, showers, hot water heaters, water fountains, sinks, and exterior water main.
While Crunch Fitness has been cleared of Legionella contamination based on these results, the Orange County Health Department had previously been investigating possible Legionnaires' Disease cases in Ocoee. A former patron reported being hospitalized with the severe form of pneumonia after visiting the Ocoee Crunch Fitness location.
The Florida DOH spokesperson declined to comment on whether other facilities are under investigation, citing the confidentiality of information gathered in epidemiological investigations. Crunch Fitness stated it was cooperating with health officials and had conducted thorough water testing out of an abundance of caution.
