Summary
- An injectable fat product derived from cadaver fat is under state investigation.
- Regulators claim the distributor operated in New York without a required license.
- The product, used for cosmetic enhancements, faces distribution pauses in the state.

New York state health officials have initiated an investigation into alloClae, an injectable fat product made from sterilized cadaver fat, distributed by Tiger Aesthetics. The company began offering alloClae to select plastic surgeons in 2024, who praised its use for cosmetic enhancements like hip dips and breast augmentation with minimal recovery.
State regulators assert that Tiger Aesthetics has been distributing alloClae in New York without the required license. This has led to a lawsuit filed by Tiger and a confidential investigation by the state. At least one doctor had their supply seized, though some practices reported continuing to offer the product. Tiger's legal officer maintains the product is legally sold across the U.S., including New York.
The company's parent, in a statement, strongly disagreed with the state's actions, emphasizing that alloClae is regulated solely by the FDA. Despite this, Tiger temporarily paused New York distribution, citing the lawsuit. A judge recently ruled against halting the crackdown on alloClae, while allowing a separate tissue-derived wound treatment dispute to proceed, with a hearing scheduled for later this month.
