In a grave incident at AIIMS Bhopal, two nursing officers, Madhubala Sharma and Anuka Gujarati, have been booked following the death of a three-year-old cancer patient. The tragic event, which occurred in December 2025, saw the child pass away within an hour of allegedly receiving a wrong injection containing a toxic chemical, possibly formalin or formaldehyde solution.
An internal inquiry by AIIMS confirmed gross negligence on the part of the nursing staff. Ms. Sharma is accused of administering the incorrect injection, while Ms. Gujarati reportedly left the dangerous substance unattended. The child's father recounted his attempts to intervene, being dismissed by the nurse administering the injection.
Both nurses have been suspended by AIIMS management. They are booked under BNS Sections 106 and 286 at Bagsewania police station. Authorities have taken possession of the drip bottle and sent samples for testing, as they investigate the circumstances leading to the young patient's demise.
