Nurse Struck Off for Covid Vaccine-Cancer Claim
17 Jun
Summary
- Nurse falsely claimed Covid vaccines caused a patient's cancer.
- The nurse also shared an anti-vaccination website link.
- Patient was distressed and fearful for her children's health.

A nurse identified as Penny Ann Senner has been removed from the nursing register following serious misconduct allegations. A panel at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) found that Senner, while employed as an adult nurse at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust, made a false and damaging claim to a patient.
During a routine appointment in August 2023, Senner allegedly told "Patient A" that Covid vaccinations were the cause of her cancer, stating this information had been "hushed up." The patient reported that Senner's assertion was presented as a definitive fact, not a possibility.
Adding to her misconduct, Senner provided the patient with a leaflet linking to an anti-vaccination website, which the patient later discovered was not a reliable source of information. This interaction left the patient feeling distressed and fearful about her children receiving the Covid vaccine.
The tribunal also ruled that Senner had accessed numerous patient records without authorization or a valid clinical reason, citing "research" as the justification. The panel acknowledged Senner's apologies but stressed that her actions caused lasting emotional and psychological harm and undermined public confidence in health guidance.
