Nurse Reinstated After Pronoun Row
21 Jan
Summary
- Nurse suspended for discussing patient's incorrect pronouns.
- Trust cited confidentiality breach concerns.
- Internal meeting cleared nurse of further action.

A nurse previously suspended over an alleged breach of confidentiality concerning a transgender patient has been reinstated. Jennifer Melle was removed from duty after publicly discussing a warning she received for using incorrect pronouns for a patient.
While the Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust initially expressed concern that confidential details about the patient's appearance, diagnosis, and treatment might have been shared with the media, no evidence emerged to suggest the patient had been identified. Following an internal disciplinary meeting, the trust has cleared Ms. Melle of any further action, allowing her to return to her role.
