Nuneaton GP Surgery Shut Down After CQC Action
9 Mar
Summary
- Whitestone Surgery closed due to CQC rating and premises issues.
- Patients must register with a new GP by April 23, 2026.
- Property owner could not assure long-term availability of premises.

Whitestone Surgery in Nuneaton will cease operations on April 24, 2026, after its Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration was cancelled. The surgery had been suspended from treating patients in 2024 due to an 'inadequate' CQC rating, necessitating a caretaker.
The NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) confirmed that the existing GP contract could not continue. Patients are required to register with a new GP practice by April 23, 2026, to ensure continuity of care.
Efforts to secure the surgery's premises for continued clinical use were unsuccessful, as the property owner could not provide assurance of future availability. A detailed assessment concluded that the current location was unsuitable for long-term clinical use, and no local alternatives were identified.
All GP practices in the Nuneaton area are currently accepting new patients. Patients needing to register can do so online via the NHS website or NHS App, or seek assistance from dedicated staff at Whitestone Surgery between March 9 and March 20, 2026. Medical records will transfer automatically upon registration. Patients who do not choose a new GP by the deadline will be automatically assigned to a local practice.
