Novant Health Promotes Executives to Enhance Patient Experience Across Network

As of November 13th, 2025, Novant Health, a leading healthcare provider in North and South Carolina, has announced the promotion of two executives to new roles within the organization. These appointments are intended to drive innovation and elevate the patient experience across Novant's extensive network of nearly 900 locations, including hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities.
CJ Atkinson has been named the senior vice president of physician enterprise operations and network development. In this role, Atkinson will work closely with Novant's acute and primary care operations, as well as specialty institutions, to ensure seamless, high-value support is delivered throughout the system. John Gizdic, Novant's executive vice president and chief operating officer, expressed confidence in Atkinson's ability to help recruit physicians and oversee the development of the organization's network and services.
Additionally, Bill Schiff has been promoted to the position of senior vice president and chief payor strategy officer. Schiff, with over 25 years of healthcare industry experience, will now be responsible for payor strategy initiatives, driving innovation, and cultivating strategic partnerships. He will also lead Novant's Population Health Services Organization, which supports independent physicians delivering value-based care in the communities Novant serves.
Novant Health is also expanding its gastroenterology and surgical services in the Hilton Head area of South Carolina. The health system has announced the addition of Novant Health Gastroenterology, formerly Hilton Head Gastroenterology, which will provide comprehensive digestive care, including on-site diagnostic testing and treatment for a range of conditions. This new facility will complement Novant's existing Novant Health General Surgery - Hilton Head, which specializes in advanced surgical techniques.
These leadership changes and service expansions are part of Novant Health's ongoing efforts to enhance the patient experience and position the organization for continued success in the evolving healthcare landscape.
