9 Jan
Summary
- Home care providers will use a single software platform by 2027.
- A $19-million contract was awarded to AlayaCare Inc. for the platform.
- The initiative aims to improve client service and provider working conditions.
By 2027, all publicly funded home-care providers in Nova Scotia will operate on a unified software platform, connecting them directly to the provincial health authority. This significant transformation, driven by a five-year, $19-million contract with AlayaCare Inc., is designed to elevate the standard of care for clients and their families.
The new platform will centralize client information and care plans, while also optimizing the scheduling of front-line staff visits. Davis Pier will assist in implementing the system, building on their prior experience with AlayaCare in Prince Edward Island. This integration is anticipated to reduce administrative burdens and improve communication.
Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Barbara Adams stated that this move will lead to better decision-making for the government through enhanced data visibility. The province anticipates fewer cancelled appointments, clearer care plans for families, and more robust support for home-care staff in their field work.
