10 Mar
Summary

- Recalled shellfish were distributed to nine states across the U.S.
- Norovirus symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain.

Federal authorities have announced a recall for clams and raw oysters due to concerns over norovirus contamination. This contagious virus, often called the "stomach flu," can cause significant illness. The affected clams were harvested by the Lummi Indian Business Council and distributed widely.
These harvested shellfish reached establishments in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Oregon, and Washington. Other states may also have received these products. The oysters, from Drayton Harbor Oyster Company, were distributed specifically in Washington state.
Both batches of seafood were harvested from Drayton Harbor, Washington, between February 13 and March 3. The FDA advises that food contaminated with norovirus may not show any signs of spoilage. Symptoms typically appear within 12 to 48 hours and can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain.
