A 56-year-old man is recovering after a pioneering heart transplant procedure at Fortis Hospital Noida. The patient, Tapas Kumar Dey, who had been living with chronic heart failure, received a donor heart that was transported via a remarkable 20-km green corridor. This created on September 9, 2026, allowed the organ to reach the hospital from Hindon airport in a mere 16 minutes.
The donor heart originated from a 34-year-old brain-dead woman in Panchkula, Haryana. Coordinated efforts between traffic and airport authorities in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh ensured the organ's swift transit to Fortis Hospital, Sector 62, Noida, within its crucial viability window.
Doctors at Fortis Hospital Noida confirmed that Mr. Dey is now under intensive medical supervision and recuperating. The transplant was hailed as the first of its kind in Noida, offering a new lease on life to a patient whose condition had deteriorated beyond the help of conventional treatments.
