- Patient to undergo neuro rehabilitation for full recovery.
- Nipah encephalitis can cause long-term neurological complications.

A 42-year-old woman, who survived a Nipah virus infection, has been discharged from Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital. She received over four months of intensive medical and nursing care after being admitted in a critical state with seizures and low blood pressure.
During her treatment, the patient regained consciousness after two months and gradually improved, showing signs of recognizing people and moving her limbs. The medical board deemed neuro rehabilitation crucial at this stage to stimulate her nervous system and facilitate a return to normal life.
She has been transferred to Kozhikode Government Medical College for specialized physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Nipah encephalitis is known to cause direct impact on brain cells, potentially leading to slow recovery and long-term complications for survivors.
