Hyderabad's NIMS Set for Major Healthcare Boost This Year

The Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad is undergoing a major expansion, with the project anticipated to be fully operational by the close of 2026. This expansion will introduce 2,000 new beds to the existing 1,639, boosting the hospital's total capacity to 3,639 beds.

This extensive development spans 19.54 acres and covers over 26 lakh square feet, with an investment of ₹1,698 crore. The new NIMS campus will comprise four 13-floor blocks dedicated to outpatient services, inpatient departments, and emergency care, creating an integrated super-speciality healthcare complex.

Civil construction is advancing rapidly, with eight of the main hospital building's thirteen floors already completed. The emergency block's construction is also progressing, aiming to integrate seamlessly with the main facilities.

The expanded NIMS will feature 38 state-of-the-art operation theatres equipped with HEPA filtration systems and advanced hybrid catheterisation laboratories. Furthermore, eight new subspecialties, particularly in paediatric care, will be introduced, significantly enhancing specialized services for children.

Investment in advanced medical equipment, including CT scan and MRI machines, is estimated at ₹100 crore, alongside a new digital laboratory. These additions are poised to dramatically improve diagnostic and research capabilities.
