- Newborn Olivia died five days after emergency C-section.
- Couple seeks answers and vows to fight for change.

A couple is seeking answers following the death of their newborn, Olivia, five days after her birth on September 19, 2024. The mother, Kimberley Newark, reportedly presented to Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, Sussex, on September 14, 2024, with excruciating pain and symptoms of internal bleeding, which staff allegedly attributed to "trapped wind." Her partner, Yann Trupiano, was even advised to return home. Shortly thereafter, doctors discovered a ruptured blood vessel causing massive internal bleeding. Olivia was born via emergency C-section and required resuscitation due to hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, a condition affecting brain oxygen supply. Both mother and baby were transferred to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. The couple expressed anger and distress, feeling their concerns were dismissed and are now pursuing civil action. University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust maternity services are under review following concerns raised by nine bereaved families between 2021 and 2023. The trust has stated that reviews into Olivia's care have been conducted and offered condolences.
