A new TB Diagnostic and Treatment Centre was inaugurated at the Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Vikas Nagar, South-West Delhi. This facility, established by the chest clinic of Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital, is a significant step in the 'TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2.0'.
The center provides crucial services, including free NAAT testing and accessible treatment for tuberculosis patients. Officials emphasized that early detection, even at sub-clinical stages, is vital for improving treatment outcomes and preventing transmission. This aligns with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme's goal of a TB-free India by 2030.
Recent health camps organized alongside the launch saw extensive screening, with 102 chest X-rays, 125 blood sugar/hemoglobin tests, and 156 blood pressure checks conducted. Awareness activities like street plays and pamphlet distribution are ongoing to educate the public on TB symptoms and timely treatment importance.
Data from March 24 to April 30 reveals that 850 health camps identified 9,432 TB patients through 46,950 chest X-rays and 21,683 NAAT tests. Preventive treatment has been given to 7,117 household contacts, and 3,461 patients received nutritional support via the 'Ni-kshay Mitra' initiative. Community participation, including 42 Ni-kshay Mitras and 127 elected representatives, has increased, underscoring Delhi's commitment to the national TB elimination goal.
