New Pharmacy Counter Ends Patient Medicine Woes

Government Medical College Hospital Thiruvananthapuram has launched a special integrated pharmacy counter to address the medicine needs of beneficiaries enrolled in various health insurance schemes. This initiative stems from patient families' complaints about the challenges of sourcing prescribed medicines from different pharmacies.
The new counter, situated near the old casualty building, offers medicines free of charge to insurance scheme beneficiaries. Empanelled pharmacies, including the main store, community pharmacy, Karunya pharmacy, and HLL outlet, will dispense medications through this integrated facility.
Operating 24/7, the pharmacy counter ensures that beneficiaries can obtain their medicines without delay. This aims to alleviate the burden of navigating multiple pharmacies across the hospital campus. In the past five years, schemes like Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhati have provided free treatment worth ₹8,425 crore to approximately 25 lakh beneficiaries.
