A new NHS diagnostic centre, poised to handle approximately 70,000 tests and outpatient appointments each year, has officially commenced operations. Located adjacent to Yeovil District Hospital, this new facility is equipped to provide a range of essential services, including audiology, ear nose and throat care, and cardiology.
This development marks a significant step in enhancing local healthcare infrastructure. It follows the successful establishment of a community diagnostic centre in Taunton in 2021. Furthermore, a new £17.8 million centre is slated to open in Bridgwater later in 2026, demonstrating a sustained commitment to improving diagnostic capabilities across the region.
Jonathan Ockrim, lead for the Yeovil Diagnostic Centre at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing investment in local services. The opening of this centre is anticipated to streamline patient pathways and improve access to timely diagnostic procedures, benefiting the community of Yeovil and surrounding areas.
